La Gran Corriente

La Gran Corriente
A source of energy in the middle of darkness—

A source of energy in the middle of darkness—

The artwork for La Gran Corriente began as an exercise is recreating artwork. It ended with focused on a single word—epiphany. Or to borrow Juan Carlos Torres Alonso (OKRAA)’s own words, this was about finding “a source of energy in the middle of the darkness.”

When Juan and Ryan Griffen (owner of ASIP) reached out, they referenced some previous sketches I had created. Technically, it was a merging of analog (scanned Polaroids) and digital (3D renderings used to distort the source material). Conceptually, though, it was an attempt to capture that sense of wandering through the dark—a familiar but distorted place—until suddenly you stumble into the light and find yourself understanding everything; you unearth a moment of clarity hidden inside a world of chaos.

The artwork for La Gran Corriente marked a turning point, both personally and professionally.
